About the Role
As an Investment Banking Analyst at Sound Advisory, you will play a key role in supporting financial transactions, capital raising efforts, and strategic advisory engagements for startups and growth-stage businesses. You will work closely with founders, investors, and senior advisors to conduct financial analysis, develop investment materials, and execute deals. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on investment banking experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while working with innovative, high-growth companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Analysis & Valuation: Conduct financial modeling, valuation analysis (DCF, precedent transactions, and comparable company analysis), and scenario modeling to support fundraising and M&A transactions.
- Deal Execution: Assist in structuring, preparing, and executing capital raises, mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions.
- Investment Materials: Develop pitch decks, confidential information memorandums (CIMs), investor presentations, and term sheets to support fundraising and deal structuring.
- Market Research & Due Diligence: Perform industry research, market sizing, and competitor analysis to support investment recommendations.
- Investor & Client Engagement: Work directly with founders and executives to prepare for investor meetings, address diligence requests, and refine financial strategies.
- Transaction Support: Support the due diligence process by preparing data rooms, managing documentation, and coordinating with legal and finance teams.
- Strategic Advisory: Provide insights on capital structuring, exit strategies, and financial planning to optimize business growth and investor positioning.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate finance, or financial consulting. Experience working with startups or growth-stage businesses is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a deep understanding of financial statements, capital markets, and investment strategies.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to create compelling investor materials and interact with clients and stakeholders effectively.
- High attention to detail and strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, CRM platforms, and financial data sources (e.g., Bloomberg, CapIQ, PitchBook).
