League of Women Voters of Massachusetts 2024 Summer Intern

Internship Description: The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts (LWVMA) is seeking two part-time interns to assist with voter education and engagement in Summer 2024. The Marketing Intern will help facilitate LWVMA’s social media campaigns related to the 2024 election and organizational events and the Outreach Intern will provide support on the League’s various voter education projects.

 

Organizational Overview: LWVMA is a nonpartisan political organization whose mission is to empower voters and defend democracy for all in Massachusetts.  The organization implements its mission by encouraging informed and active participation in all levels of government and influencing public policy through education and advocacy. Since its founding in 1920, LWVMA has been a respected and trusted voice for grassroots participation in our democracy. With 43 local Leagues throughout the state, LWVMA has been at the forefront of efforts to empower and educate Massachusetts voters and affect change on a wide range of issues. League membership is open to people of all ages.

 

Responsibilities: Duties will vary and overlap but interns can expect to complete the following tasks: 

  • Support implementation and promotion of the VOTE411online voters’ guide, including outreach to candidates to obtain content for the voters’ guide and social media optimization
  • Assist with education and advocacy around the Voting ACCESS Act including interacting with legislators at the MA state house
  • Help with events throughout the summer including the June LWVMA Council and August Falmouth Road Race 
  • Engage in 2024 election outreach with partner organizations to educate and motivate voters 
  • Assist with logistics around candidate and issues forums
  • Generate social media content
  • Provide general office support

 

Details:  This is a mostly remote, part-time (2 days/week) summer internship and comes with a $2,500 stipend. The ideal intern is responsible, detail-oriented, computer/social media savvy, has strong written and verbal communication skills and must be available to come into the Boston office several times throughout the summer.  Interest in nonprofits, civic engagement, and community-building is also important.
