Program Management Intern


Position Title:  Program Management Intern (Hybrid)
Reports To:       Sector Strategies Program Manager
Level:                  Paid Internship
Hourly Rate:     $18/hour
Schedule:          20 hours per week Monday through Friday ( June 5th- August 11th, 2023)

Commonwealth Corporation is looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented intern who is eager to learn about grant management while supporting improvements to our grant procurement process. You will be working closely with our Sector Strategies team to analyze grantee performance data, learn the grant lifecycle process, and develop a master workflow schedule for the procurement process. To be successful as an Intern, you should demonstrate a curiosity for problem-solving and a strong willingness to learn. You should be willing to ask questions, help with tasks assigned by your supervisor, and be willing to take ownership of your assigned projects. You will have opportunities to be involved in meetings with grantee partners, to review and score grant applications, and to network internally and externally. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of grant management and to learn and apply project management skills while working for a quasi-public workforce development organization.
 
Intern Responsibilities:
 
Administrative Support
 
  • Support the Program Management staff by regularly running database reports to review skills training outcomes data for quality, accuracy, and completeness and following up with grantee partners when necessary.
  • Analyze outcomes data reports to assess grantees’ performance according to their program goals.
  • Run reports in Salesforce on grant contract data, as needed.
  • Monitor biweekly accounts payable reports to confirm that invoices have been paid to grantees.
 
Grant Contract Closeout Support
 
  • Support the Program Management staff by following the step-by-step process to close out up to ten grant contracts.
  • Coordinate with the Research and Evaluation, Contracts, Accounts Payable, and Operations teams to gather required documentation for closing out grant contracts.
 
Procurement Process Support
 
  • Collaborate with the Sector Team to develop a master quarterly workflow schedule for the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund procurement process outlining timelines for key tasks, internal and external communications, and standard documentation.
  • Participate in the grant application review process by reading and scoring application submissions.
  • Serve on an application review committee.
 
Sector Team Support
·      Schedule permitting, and attend bi-monthly Sector Team meetings for teamwide updates and program management learning opportunities.
·      Schedule permitting, and attend monthly Comm Corp All-Staff meetings.

Intern Requirements
 
 
  • A college student, recent graduate, or graduate student with interest and relevant experience in program management, grant management, project management, adult education, workforce development, or similar fields.
  • Ability to take initiative and ask questions as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize when handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Qualified candidates should be detail-oriented, organized, dependable, resourceful, enthusiastic, and proactive.
  • Familiarity with CRM databases such as Salesforce is a plus.
  • Familiarity with case management software like Apricot by Social Solutions is a plus.
  • Interest in healthcare and behavioral healthcare workforce development is a plus.
