Communications Office Summer Intern

Department Mission Statement:
The Executive Office of the Trial Court is led by the Chief Justice of the Trial Court and the Court Administrator and oversees judicial and court operations, including the Office of Court Management. The Executive Office works collaboratively with the seven Trial Court Departments and Commissioners of Probation and Jury to develop and implement policies and initiatives that promote an environment of continuous improvement and ensure the most effective use of resources to allow the delivery of quality justice. The Executive Office also oversees the development and implementation of strategic planning for the Trial Court.
Position Summary:
The intern will work in the Executive Office of the Trial Court, which is led by the Chief Justice and Court Administrator, to support employee communication to 6,500 judges and staff, as well as some external outreach efforts. A variety of interesting assignments will be coordinated and supervised by the Trial Court’s Communications team on content creation, social media, and special projects and events. The intern may accompany Communications staff to special events across the Commonwealth if the need arises. The intern will have mentor opportunities working with the Communication team.

  • This position will work a hybrid schedule, subject to change.
  • This position will work a part time schedule.
The intern’s daily duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Assist in developing and executing communications plans and projects for the Trial Court in coordination with the Communications team, court leaders, and operations and planning teams to support court system organizational goals.
  • Assist in preparing and promoting a variety of internal and public-facing content, including articles for the Trial Court’s internal website and monthly newsletter, leadership messages, annual report, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
  • Research and create written and visual (including video) content for social media posts (evergreen content for Twitter and Facebook).
  • Support projects, special initiatives, and functions as needed.

Position Requirements:
  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree (or graduate degree, etc.) from an accredited college or university
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience with written, oral, and electronic communications methods and channels
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other computer software programs
  • Visual design skills and experience with graphic design software such as Illustrator and InDesign a plus
  • Proficiency in video editing software a plus
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Adaptable and willing to learn new skills
