Rhino 3D Internship - Boston

SUMMARY

Location: Boston
Internship Dates: Flexible to accommodate candidate's schedule.

Vibram is the world leader in the production and sales of high-performance rubber outsoles in the sport, leisure, industrial, orthopedic and repair markets.
 
We are seeking a Rhino 3D Intern with a working knowledge of the Grasshopper plug-in to join our team. As an intern, you will assist in the design and development of projects using Rhino 3D and Grasshopper. You will work closely with our team of designers, developers and bio mechanists to create 3D models and procedural designs for footwear Outsole and Midsole designs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
 
·        Collaborate with designers to create 3D models and procedural geometry using Rhino 3D and Grasshopper.
·        Assist in the development of design concepts and solutions using Rhino 3D and Grasshopper.
·        Attend meetings and participate in project discussions.
·        Requirements:
·        Working knowledge of Rhino 3D and the Grasshopper plug-in.
·        Experience in 3D modeling
·        Ability to work well in a team environment.
·        Pursuing a degree in industrial design or related field.
·        Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of the job.
·        Perform other tasks requested.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
 
Experience with parametric design and generative modeling using Rhino 3D and Grasshopper.
Experience with digital fabrication techniques (laser cutting, 3D printing, CNC milling, etc.) welcome but not required.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
 
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
 
Ability to write and scale formulas, analyze data, use predictive modeling and set tolerances using mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical analysis, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
