Product Designer Intern

The Product Designer is responsible for designing intuitive, user-centered experiences that support HydraCor’s software products.

Working closely with Product Owners, Technical Leads, Software Developers, QA Specialists, and stakeholders across the organization, the Product Designer creates workflows, interface designs, prototypes, and design specifications that align business objectives with user needs.

This role focuses on user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) design, usability, accessibility, and visual consistency while supporting successful product delivery throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

This position is a paid internship position with a flexible schedule.  New employees may be expected to work on-site during an initial onboarding or probationary period.

This position may require background screening. Interns will also be expected to adhere to confidentiality agreements and appropriate company security standards.

Responsibilities

Design User Experiences

• Design intuitive, user-centered interfaces for HydraCor products
• Develop wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and user flows
• Translate business and product requirements into effective user experiences
• Ensure designs support usability, efficiency, and accessibility

Support Product Design

• Collaborate with Product Owners to understand business requirements and user needs
• Participate in product discovery and design planning activities
• Recommend design solutions that improve user experience and workflow
• Assist in refining product features prior to development

Promote Design Excellence

• Maintain consistency with established design standards and design systems
• Ensure visual consistency across products
• Create and maintain reusable design components
• Promote user-centered design principles throughout the organization

Collaborate with Engineering

• Work closely with Technical Leads and Software Developers to ensure designs are technically feasible
• Provide design specifications and implementation guidance
• Review implemented interfaces for consistency with approved designs
• Support clarification of design intent during development

Improve Product Quality

• Participate in usability evaluations and user feedback activities
• Recommend improvements based on customer feedback and observed usability issues
• Identify opportunities to simplify workflows and improve user efficiency
• Support continuous improvement of the overall product experience

Support Accessible and Secure Design

• Incorporate accessibility principles into product designs
• Consider privacy and security during interface design
• Design interfaces that support secure user interactions and appropriate handling of sensitive information
• Collaborate with engineering and security personnel to ensure user experience aligns with organizational security requirements

Support Product Delivery

• Participate in SDLC planning and product development activities
• Assist Product Owners with feature refinement and design prioritization
• Respond to design questions during implementation
• Support successful delivery of product enhancements

Drive Continuous Improvement

• Stay current with UX, UI, and interaction design best practices
• Evaluate emerging design tools and methodologies
• Recommend improvements to design processes and collaboration
• Share design knowledge and best practices across the organization

Requirements:

• Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Experience designing user interfaces for web-based software applications
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles
• Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and interactive mockups
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities

Technical Skills

Experience with:

• Figma or comparable design platform
• User interface (UI) design
• User experience (UX) design
• Wireframing and prototyping
• Design systems
• Responsive web design
• Accessibility principles (WCAG)
• Agile software development environments
