Energy Efficiency Engineer Intern

INTERN, ENERGY EFFICIENCY ENGINEERING

THE POSITION

GreenerU seeks an energy efficiency engineering co-op/intern who is interested in finding built environment solutions to fighting climate change. We are a busy, fun and supportive workplace with a staff ranging from climate action planning professionals to energy engineers to construction managers. The energy efficiency engineering co-op will report to the Senior Energy Engineer. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

o Completed or nearly completed bachelor’s degree; working towards a master’s degree in energy engineering or related field is a plus

o Strong verbal and written communication skills

o Strong analytical skills

o Familiarity with building energy systems, specifically lighting, HVAC systems and associated engineering principles

o Familiarity with reviewing building energy / utility data and billing information

o Ability to problem solve and work independently

o Interact in a positive and constructive fashion with client personnel and potential subcontractors and vendors

o Proficiency with MS Office, especially Microsoft Excel; proficiency in database systems is a plus

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

o Support field investigations of existing building systems, including energy audits, especially for lighting and HVAC work

o Assist project developers in designing solutions and developing cost estimates for the work

o Assist in project delivery through work with project and construction managers, including updating project schedules, documenting as-built conditions, addressing field engineering challenges, and learning to use a variety of project management software.
