About LWVMA:
The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts (LWVMA) is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to empower voters and defend democracy. Through education and advocacy, we engage people in the democratic process and champion equity and access at all levels of government.
Position Overview:
LWVMA is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Event Coordination Intern for Fall 2025. This intern will play a key role in supporting the planning, promotion, and execution of the League’s signature events, including the Boston Women’s 10K, League Leader Luncheon, and other annual events to support the organization.
This is an excellent opportunity for students or emerging professionals looking to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit event planning, marketing, and donor engagement. The internship offers a flexible schedule and the potential to extend into the Spring 2026 semester, depending on performance and organizational needs. While this internship is NOT an advocacy or policy role, applicants who have an interest in civic engagement are encouraged to apply. Applicants MUST be located within the Boston Metropolitan area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning and logistics for major events, including the Boston Women’s 10K and annual events.
- Coordinate with volunteers and attendees.
- Track RSVPs, and sponsorships using LWVMA’s digital tools.
- Support the Development Committee’s subcommittees in administrative tasks and event planning
- Help manage event-day logistics, including setup, guest check-in, and troubleshooting.
- Contribute to post-event evaluations and reporting.
- Attend in-person events (occasional evening or weekend availability may be required).
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Event Management, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Previous experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, or nonprofit work is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Comfortable with digital tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and a familiarity with CRMs.
- Passion for civic engagement and the mission of LWVMA.
Internship Details:
- Fall 2025 term: September–December (with option to extend into Spring 2026).
- Hours: 10–15 hours per week, flexible scheduling.
- Stipend: Up to $3,000, based on availability and total hours worked.
- Hybrid format with in-person meetings and events in Boston.
