Public Policy Fellowship
Open Democracy is seeking a Fellow to forward our mission of political equality for all during the Fall semester (Oct-Dec). Fellows will receive training and work on campaigns to end the influence of money in politics, protect the freedom to vote, and ensure fair redistricting. The Fellowship will include:
- Organizing: Fellow will be involved in educating OD/ODA’s Regional Democracy Teams and the public, and organizing grassroots action on policy. Responsibilities include developing weekly actions for volunteers, facilitating regular volunteer meetings, recruiting new volunteers, aiding volunteers in taking action (by writing letters to the editor, contacting their legislators, testifying at public hearings on legislation, advocating for or against policy with legislators, etc) and more.
- Communications: Fellow will also work on communicating the importance of policy that strengthens our democracy with various audiences including on social media, with the press, with elected officials, and with coalition partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive workplace
- Commitment to nonpartisan relationship building, communications, and advocacy
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, set own schedule, meet deadlines, and be flexible as tasks and priorities can change quickly
- Verbal/written communication skills
- Experience with Google suite, or ability to learn
